Jake Ashmore was born and raised in Bath and started his glass career working in the shop at Bath Aqua Glass. He quickly moved from the shop to learning the basics of lampworking and glass engraving.
In 2013 he moved to Bristol Blue Glass as an apprentice, where he learned most of his traditional furnace glass-blowing skills. During the four years he spent there, he progressed to be a fully qualified glass maker. Here he was involved in high profile projects with companies like Meantime Brewery and commissions for the Royal Household. He continued with his lampworking glass in his own time.
By 2018 he was ready to strike out on his own and left Bristol Blue Glass in August 2018 to become self employed with his own glass brand, Incendium Glass.
His current style comes from his classical background combined with self taught, modern skills in lampwork. He now works predominantly with borosilicate glass where he can implement his traditional training within up to date techniques to create modern forms and sculpture. The colour pallet and flexibility that borosilicate glass offers provides him with the inspiration and drive to make his pieces.
Currently living and working in Wells he has his own studio/workshop.
